How United Way Works

United Way of Bartholomew County supports over 75 programs which help more than 20,000 children and adults each year.

United Way was founded to provide a simple and efficient way to contribute to charities.  Through just one gift, you can touch the lives of thousands in a variety of ways.  United Way ensures the accountability of your gift through the Citizen's Review Process.  Both the Citizen's Review committee and the United Way Board of Directors are made up of volunteers from the community.

Each year over fifty experienced volunteers, who are donors themselves, spend hundreds of hours visiting agencies and seeing first hand how people and programs are working to improve lives.  Through these visits and a thorough review of agency budgets, they make decisions about the best use of United Way dollars.  Your support of the United Way builds a caring community.

Here at home as well as across the country, health and human services budgets are being squeezed while demand increases.  To provide adequate assistance to those in need throughout our community, the United Way needs your support.  Your donation counts.
