Columbus Youth Camp

CYC is seeking Specialty Camp Volunteers for CYC specialty camps; background check required, opportunities range from guest speaker to full week volunteer.

Dates of Project: Rustic Maker Space June 24-28; Bike Camp July 1-5, Adventure Camp July 8-12, Arts & Crafts Camp July 22-26, Engine Camp July 29 - August 2

Columbus Youth Camp

Groups of volunteers needed to chop firewood, clear trails, landscape, paint and clean cabins. Projects vary by season.

Columbus Firemans Cheerfund

The Cheerfund provides a box of toys at Christmas time for approx. 1200 children annually.  Volunteers are needed to sort new and gently used toys, preparing, boxing up, distributing and transporting toys to families.

Columbus Bike Co-Op

12 volunteers of all skill-levels including bike mechanics needed to help Earn-a-Bike participants build bikes, help people who come in to do repairs, fix shop bikes, scrap old bikes, be a greeter or a monitor during shop hours, and help with local events such as valet bike parking at the farmers market.

Hours: Sun 2-5pm and Mon 4-7pm

Time commitment: 3 hours every month

Community Center of Hope

2-3 Volunteers needed to assist clients in the Food Pantry, stock shelves and perform basic housekeeping duties.

Hours: Every Tuesday 8:00am-12pm

Columbus Salvation Army

We are looking for volunteers to assist at our Gleaner’s Food Trucks.  We have a truck the 2nd Tuesday and the 2nd Friday of the month.  Tuesdays are 1p-3p at Cummins Fuel Systems and Fridays are 10a-12p at The Salvation Army.

Time Commitment: 2 hours per location

Developmental Services Inc.

Three volunteers to come and deep clean our kitchen that is used for cooking classes for clients.

Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 9-2:30 (anytime during these days/hours)

Family School Partners/Su Casa Columbus

Family School Partners is in need of volunteers to provide homework help for children ages Kindergarten through 8th grade in the Taylorsville area once a week.  This is open while school is in session. We need volunteers that are good with math and reading skills.

Dates of Project: Tuesdays from 4pm to 5pm and Thursdays from 3pm to 4pm

Location: Tuesdays are at the Driftside Clubhouse; Thurdsay are are at Heritage Heights

Time Commitment: 1 hour once a week and up to 2 hours per week

Help needed with sorting, stocking, child sitting, light maintenance and other tasks.

Love Chapel

This food pantry serves more than 4,000 Bartholomew County residents each month.  Volunteers are needed to help with donation pickups, janitorial, food stocking and sorting, client intake and pantry shopping, information and technology, warehouse host, and other areas of the nonprofit outreach. 

Hours:  Monday through Saturday, 8:30a.m. – 12:30p.m.

Time Commitment: Each shift 4 hours. Volunteers may work as many shifts as is convenient for them.

School Supply Registration will be registering children for free school supplies for the upcoming school year and volunteers needed to assist with process; special skills needed: volunteers must be able to speak to clients on the phone and enter information into a computer program

Mission Columbus - ASAP Hub Renovation and Build-Out

Mission Columbus needs work crews to assist renovation and reconfiguration of the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress (ASAP) new office space located in the United Way Building.  Remodeling phase will need skilled people with a construction background.

Turning Point

Turning Point's mission is to work toward the prevention and elimination of domestic and dating violence.

Ongoing and immediate opportunities:

Volunteer Handyman - to join the other volunteer handymen in repairing and maintaining the shelter and office

Weekly 90-minute Childcare – treating the children with time to play, do crafts, or read with an attentive adult (while giving the mom a much needed break)

Volunteers are needed for tasks such as walking dogs, socializing cats, occasional drives to rescues, cleaning, special events and larger projects throughout the year such as gardening, mulching etc.  Mid-day volunteers especially needed.

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-12. Closed Thursdays, Sundays and Holidays

Time commitment: Varies, two hour time periods are typical

Immediate need for 2 groups, could be same group of 8-10 volunteers, to do yard work (weeding, mulching of paths & flower beds)
