Meet our Women United Chair: Dallas Grider

Hi! My name is Dallas Grider, and I am a WORKlife Specialist at First Financial Bank. I've been in banking for a total of seven years. In my current position, I work with businesses throughout southern Indiana to provide them with free financial benefits for their employees as well as focusing on building strong relationships throughout the communities I serve.

In 2021, I knew I wanted to do my part in making an impact in our community and got involved with United Way of Bartholomew County. I volunteered for their Day of Service, multiple poverty simulations, as well as becoming the United Way Campaign Champion for First Financial bank. I joined Women United in 2022 after hearing about the United Way Philanthropic Societies. I've always been passionate about United Way, what they stand for, and the assistance they offer to those in need, so when I heard about Women United which would focus on assisting single mothers in our community, I immediately knew I wanted to be part of it.

I became a single mother at age 18 when I gave birth to my oldest daughter and did not meet my husband until seven years later. During this time, I faced struggles that so many single mothers face. From trouble paying rent, affording groceries and utilities, reliable childcare, as well as other hardships, I went through it all. So, when the opportunity arose to take over the chair position for Women United, a group that I’m so passionate to support and take part in, it was an immediate yes.

Looking forward to this year, I hope to continue growing Women United by sharing how valuable and necessary the group is to assisting single mothers. Last year, the Women United Fund was able to help single mothers with everything from getting a phone and minutes for communication, car repairs and expenses, to providing supplemental closing costs on a home. This is absolutely amazing. I am so thankful for this opportunity, and I look forward to working with the Women United executive team to continue to make a positive impact for single mothers in our community.
